Laura Hershey, a well-known disability rights activist, is dead. I don’t even know how to respond, it was so unexpected and I’d always looked up to her. I’d like to do a memorial post with lots of links to her writing and how it influenced me and all that, but for now all I can do is say that she died, I can’t think beyond that yet.

OH!
I don’t know what to add either.
I will miss her voice (when I say her voice, I mean what she had to say and how she sayed it!)
I had discovered her text for the first time thanks to you… some month ago.
It was good to know that there were people like her in this world.
It’s hard to find the words for how deeply her poems affected me. Go read some.
I just discovered this earlier today myself (I think via Disabled Feminist) so I’m still struggling to wrap my head around this.
I only recently read some of her writing. She will be missed and profoundly so by many.
If it makes you feel any better (I dunno) I just went outdoors and spilled some of my beer on the ground, as I always do when I hear that an heroic warrior has died.
