It’s that cool “oooOOOooo” break in the middle of the song. A lot of horror movies also use theremins for atmosphere.

There was an interesting theremin-based group in the 60s called Lothar and the Hand People. Truly underrated pop. (The band name is derived from the instrument. The full name of the contraption is actually a lothar-theramin.)
