andrea: cool, my mother works at Hopkins……associate prof of radiology…..I’d rather not go to school in my own backyard if I don’t have to though……and, Hopkins is too big for my tastes…..I’d do much better with smaller schools……..and Wisconsin is too far away for my parents’ comfort…….thanks for the information though. Atmospheric physics is probably closely related to meteorology…….

I know pretty much nothing about meterology, but my Dad is a specialist in atmospheric physics. He got his BA at John Hopkins University (in Baltimore, MD) then went on for his graduate training at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Don’t know if either of those programs would suit your needs.

The Integral: I’ve been turning into a bit of a weather geek myself the past few years. (Pardon the expression; I don’t usually like to use the term “geek”.) We have a lot of interesting weather in this area; I’m in Albany (NY). There’s also a well-known meteorology program at the state university here; are you aware of it?

I’ve been checking out a school about 90 minutes away from there……I’ve yet to visit it, but it seems to have an excellent meteorology program, which is what I want to study…….

I went to school in Southern VT for a bit……..it’s a lovely state! good skiing too…….

I love that wide-angle looking high res photo.

Snow is beautiful to look at in pictures. I don’t like living in it, though. I have fallen down the stairs too many times.

Well, I don’t know when I will be able to get back out to the East Coast (most of my extended family actually lives out there, and they are awesome folks, but travel is rather a big ordeal for me so I don’t see them as much as I’d like to) but if I do I would be happy to meet you. At least I know you would not be disturbed by my lack of eye contact. :)

And yes, the Echo Center is where I went. That whole area was really interesting to walk around in…old buildings and uneven terrain and a gnome statue in the grass. I liked how the downtown area there had no cars allowed in it; that definitely made me feel safer since I don’t have the best sense of where cars are or how fast they are moving when walking around.

zilari if you (or anyone else friendly) ever want to visit, that's fine (we can meet in a park or someplace public if that is safer). You probably went to the Echo Center, which is within walking distance (for people who, unlike me, have normal stamina) of where I live.
