I’m not talking about some balancing act where a god of impartiality runs around taking things away and giving other things, that’s ridiculous and in fact ableist. But I am saying that those who are viewed by society as having things taken away from us, and our lives viewed as being essentially barren wastelands, are not shut out of the richness of life by being who we are. And the richness we experience is not some cheap romanticized copy of the richness others experience. The richness of life is there for everyone, and whether one experiences it or not is not dependent on being autistic. How one experiences it, on the other hand, may well be dependent on neurology and life experience and everything else.   [link] […]

I love humor and didn’t see how the questions for neurotypicals were funny; they struck me as sort of bitter, but I shouldn’t have said so. The extensive explanations here are much appreciated.

They say walk a mile in the other person’s moccasins, but of course, we can’t really do that. (Or as the joke goes, if you do, you’re a mile away and have their moccasins!)

I took down my blog profile but now see the disadvantage of that (i.e. it links to the blog!) so will put one back up. TY for pointing me to the problem. My blog.

According to the two IATs I took, I have no implicit associations. Even on things where I actually do have some kind of associations (eg I tend to prefer old people to young people). I think it’s related to how after the first little bit those symbols/pictures and words became meaningless to me.

I never thought what it must look like to other people though.

He said he even had a failed attempt to surgically correct it.

When you’re younger than that, even if you act like that, they’re not going to suspect drug use as often.

I never have, though.

I did understand the previous entry, but I’m very glad that you posted this one, especially since it contained the list of assumptions from Pride Against Prejudice. Very handy, and reminds me of how sheltered my life is right now.

Is there an LSD-like chemical entering the autistic brain at this time in development, or is it purely and simply a matter of neurotypical perception?

What do you think?

What is the research on this?

I also find those experiments chilling.

And realistic, although I’m not sure I want to publicly say why.
